Groundwerk Panel Discussion at Bass Coast 2016
We had the honour of hosting a Panel Discussion at Bass Coast Festival this year at The Brain focused on "Growing Community-Based Electronic Music Scenes in Canada". The panelists we chose are currently living in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and Toronto and making a difference.
Each of our local communities are strengthened by the efforts of event organizers and record labels. Groundwerk Co-Founder Joel West moderated the discussion with Isis Graham, Andrew Williams, Sandro Petrillo and Michael red, who are community makers with experience organizing events and managing labels that are contributing to each of their city's music scenes.
Bass Coast Festival connects music lovers from around the country but each of us come from our own unique sub scenes. We have much to learn from each of our varied yet overlapping experiences growing community-based electronic music scenes in Canada.
The Panelists:
Andrew Williams (NVS / Dunmore Park / Night Vision / Edmonton)
Isis Graham (Esette / Substation Recordings / Calgary)
Michael Red (low indigo / LIGHTA! SOUND / Vancouver / Sunshine Coast)
Sandro Petrillo (Sergio Levels / Modern Math / Toronto)
